Arkadaş School believes that all special days should be approached regarding children’s semantic and world knowledge. Unfortunately, since such special days are planned and organized according to adults’ wishes and interests in early childhood institutions, it leaves children defenseless against popular culture, political agenda and the market while exposing them to concepts which are way beyond their psycho-social aspects.
“Childish days” that correspond to children’s semantic development and get out of adults’ populist views are needed to think and act together. In Yedi Iklim, special days are approached with a perspective concerning children’s agenda in which they are able to experience themselves without worrying or oppressing their semantics skills.
